Road trip 2, day 2, Cuenca

Whenever you talk to Spanish people and ask them where to go or what interesting cities to visit, they recommend you to see Cuenca. And after today, I understand why!

Those of you who have been to Tuscany, Italy, might have visited Pitigliano, a picturesque little village built on a rock. And Cuenca reminded me lot of it!

Compare these two pictures I’ve taken and compare! Amazing, right?

The interesting places to visit in Cuenca I found in the old town. Narrow streets and stairs lead up the rock to the top where you have a breathtaking view on the new part of Cuenca and its surroundings. The best pictures I made are from the bridge which connects Parador de Cuenca and the old village. Here you have a perfect view to the most famous perspective of Cuenca: las casas colgadas or the hanging houses with their wooden balconies.

Although I’m not a religious person, I visit churches on my travels. Always. I don’t know why but I think they always reveal something beautiful. I’m very happy I did so today because the yellow light in the Catedral de Santa María y San Julián de Cuenca was very cool. Don’t you think?
